Welcome to Montgomery Neighbors PAC. We are a political action committee set up to provide voters with reliable information leading up to the general election for a new County Executive in Montgomery County, MD.
Because Montgomery Neighbors PAC is committed to integrity and transparency in the 2018 race, we encouraged voters to review all candidates' financial reports and legislative records. See campaign finance analyses through October 22, 2018. For example, independent ticket County Executive candidate Nancy Floreen lined her campaign coffers with at least 81% of her contributions from the real estate development industry. One industry is trying to take over the very county government that regulates it.
Our county saw a successful outcome for the first time campaign finance reform was used in Montgomery County. Montgomery Neighbors PAC played a role in helping voters understand the risk of allowing a single industry to dominate an election with financial donations. However, in the course of filing our registration with the Maryland Board of Elections, a clerical error led to the PAC filing as a regular PAC instead of a Super PAC, the latter of which could accept donations of any size from any entity. A complaint was filed by Candidate Floreen's campaign. Since it exceeded the amount the PAC could accept, we must return $14,000 to one supporter and the State has levied an additional fine of $1,400. We are raising funds to correct the error and pay the fine. If you would like to make a donation to help us close out our books and correct our error, your support will be appreciated!
